National Bubbly Day

What is National Bubbly Day?
Get ready to pop, fizz, and sparkle—because National Bubbly Day (celebrated every year on the first Saturday in June) is basically a global excuse to enjoy life’s most festive drink: sparkling wine.
Though it may be an awesome holiday, it’s fairly new. It was created by Freixenet Cava in 2016 to promote sparkling wines.
The most common types of sparkling wine are:
Champagne (the fancy classic from France)
Prosecco (light and fruity, from Italy)
Cava (crisp and often budget-friendly, from Spain)
Those delightful bubbles come from carbon dioxide created during fermentation—science that tastes like celebration!
Fun Facts
- The pressure inside a champagne bottle is about 3x a car tire
- A standard bottle has 49 million bubbles (yes, really!)
- Napoleon Bonaparte allegedly said: “In victory, you deserve Champagne. In defeat, you need it.”
Tips on how to celebrate National Bubbly Day
1. Get creative with bubbly cocktails
Plain is great, but mixing it up is better:

2. Pair it with the right food
Bubbly plays really well with:
- Cheese boards (maybe even save some cheese from a couple days earlier, National Cheese Day, or better yet, have bubbly then too!)
- Seafood
- Light desserts
Make it a whole vibe instead of just a drink.
3. Make it an event
Even if it’s small:
- Host a backyard or living room “sparkling hour”
- Dress up a little (yes, even at home)
- Play music and lean into the celebration energy
4. Take it outside
If the weather is nice:
- Picnic with a chilled bottle
- Rooftop or balcony toast at sunset
- Beach or park hangout (just check local rules)
5. Keep it chill (literally)
Warm bubbly is a crime against humanity. Chill it well and serve in proper glasses if you can—it actually makes a difference.
6. Keep the spirit of the day
The whole point of National Bubbly Day is simple: celebrate something—even if it’s just making it through the week.
