National Burger Day

August 27

What is National Burger Day?

National Burger Day is a delicious celebration of one of the most iconic comfort foods ever stacked between two buns.

Whether you love a classic cheeseburger, a loaded bacon burger, veggie, smashed, or something wildly over-the-top with onion rings and secret sauce, this day is all about honoring the mighty burger in all its juicy, messy, glorious forms.

These sandwiches are basically the ultimate “choose your own adventure” meal. You can keep it simple with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and cheese, or go full food-artist with toppings like caramelized onions, avocado, mushrooms, jalapeños, fried eggs, barbecue sauce, or mac and cheese.

9 Ways to Celebrate

1. Build your dream burger

Start with your favorite patty—beef, turkey, chicken, veggie, or plant-based—and pile on the toppings. Think cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato, onions, bacon, avocado, mushrooms, jalapeños, or a special sauce. Check out this recipe from the Haunted Kitchen for MONSTER Sliders…so big…they’re just hamburgers. (See what we did there)

2. Host a backyard cookout

Fire up the grill and invite friends or family over. Set up a topping station so everyone can customize their own burger masterpiece. Get a BBQ Hamburger Recipe Here

3. Try a new burger style

Go beyond the classic cheeseburger and try:

  • Smashed
  • Sliders
  • BBQ
  • Mushroom Swiss
  • Breakfast
  • Veggie

4. Have a burger contest

Challenge everyone to create their best burger. Give out fun awards like “Most Creative,” “Messiest Masterpiece,” “Best Sauce,” or “Burger Most Likely to Need Extra Napkins.”

5. Create a signature sauce

Mix ketchup, mayo, mustard, relish, hot sauce, barbecue sauce, garlic, or spices to create your own secret burger sauce.

6. Visit a local burger spot

Support a local restaurant, diner, or food truck.  Even your favorite chain. (Check our comedy burger review of The Melt) Try their specialty burger or finally order the one you’ve been eyeing.

7. Make a veggie or plant-based burger

Celebrate with a meatless option using black beans, mushrooms, chickpeas, lentils, or your favorite plant-based patty.

8. Share your creation

Post your burger masterpiece with fun hashtags like #NationalBurgerDay, #BurgerDay, #BurgerLovers, or #BurgerGoals.

9. End with a burger-themed party

Use checkered tablecloths, diner-style baskets, paper hats, and a “build-your-own-burger” bar. Add a milkshake station and you’ve got a full-on bash.
